Louver - What the heck is a louver, anyway? Webster's dictionary defines louvers as an opening in a wall or ceiling for ventilation or cooling with one or more slanted fins to excluderain or sun and often made so that the fins may be closed at will. We define them as those beautiful accents we make to cover up ugly attic ventilation vents and dress up roof peaks on the side of your house. Attic ventilation is very important to reducing moisture in your home. We think they should be as attractive as possible. That's why we've designed a wide variety of shapes and style to fit your needs.
Functional
Louvers: Slats are moulded at a steep 45-degree angle with 3/8"
openings for great airflow. All functional louvers are backed
with a non-corrosive fiberglass screen to keep the bugs out.
Decorative Louvers: Always big on equal opportunity, we've also designed non-venting decorative louvers for structures where there is no ventilation on the sides of the house or building. This way, no one feels left out.
Eave Vent - What's
the purpose for using eave vent systems?Like louvers, E-Vents help the attic breathe. They extend life expectancy of roofs and attic insulation by reducing moisture and heat buildup in warm climates and help prevent ice dams and reduce condensation in colder ones. And they help frame the house between the roof and the walls pretty as a picture.
Entrance Trim - How do I know which style of entrance trim works best for my house?
There's
no right or wrong answer here. Just like all decorative touches,
it all depends on your individual style and the look you are going
for. A good place to start would be to assess your home's architectural
style and determine which category your home fits into. Then, choose
from the entrance trim packages that are available in that category.
We offer pilasters, ranging from fluted, half round and double panel,
plus numerous sizes in each style. Crossheads are also available
in a variety of widths and lengths, plus numerous accessories can
be added to create your own custom look. This should be a pretty
safe way to go.
Window Trim - How much window trim is really necessary?
Well,
none when you come right down to it. You can get by without it.
As long as you are content to live in an everyday nothing-special
residence. But if you really want your house to stand out, window
trim can do it. Because there is generally more than one window
on a home, using architectural accents around windows will help
you to clearly define the architectual style. For example, window
crossheads can be placed directly over the window. You can start
out with simple designs and proportions such as 6" high crosshead.
We also offer more massive crosshead sizes up to 14" high.
With Style Solutions you also have the flexiblity to add a custom
accessory such as trim strip, dentil trim, bottom trim or keystone
to any of our crossheads.
Moulding - Can moulding pieces be combined?
You
betcha. That's half the fun of 'em. Some have already been combined
and moulded into one piece to save time and labor costs. Choose
from over 100 styles of richly detailed authentic profiles that
work in both new construction and renovation projects. Chair rails,
dentil profiles, cornice and cove as well as fascia mouldings are
just a few of the options available. To see them all, you'll need
to check out our technical catalog. You won't believe all the options there are.
Sometimes it is even hard for us to believe how much there is.
Decorative Millwork - Can decorative millwork pieces be used inside as well as outside?
All
Style Solutions™ products can be used both inside and outside,
and our decorative millwork products are no exception. Dentil blocks,
brackets and corbels can add interesting details both inside and
outside. Niches are yet another example. Inside, they make a great
place for displaying art and collectibles. Outside, they are a great
place for plants overlooking a garden or patio.
Balustrade System - How sturdy are you balustrade systems?
Very
sturdy. Balustrade systems, like all of our other products are constructed
of high density urethane. To meet structural and safety requirements,
balusters are reinforced with fiberglass. Rails and newels are reinforced
with PVC. Porch posts and load bearing balusters are reinforced
with steel. You can't get any more sturdy than that.
